Attractions

The main tourist attraction of the city is the famous Brzeska Fortress,

built in 1833-42. The historic spatial layout of the fortress, most of the earth fortifications with bastions, ravelins and moats, as well as some external and internal gates have been preserved until today. The complex consists of the "Bravery" monument, a 100-meter bayonet-shaped obelisk and a ceremonial square with a steadily burning candle, where the Brest students perform well every day.

Belovezhskaya Pushchais a unique natural landmark of the Republic of Belarus, a national park that is included in UNESCO World Heritage List, and which represents the largest remainder of the relic primitive plain forest, which in prehistoric times grew in Europe. Gradually, it was cut down, but in a relatively untouched condition in the form of a large massif was preserved only in the Belovezhsky region in the territory of modern Belarus and Poland. One of the most recognizable symbols of Belarus is the bison. And the bison live in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. In addition to bison, wolves, wild boars, elk, deer live here. Here the trees have never heard the knocking of axes by woodcutters. There are 600-year-old oaks, ash trees and pines, which are 250-350 years old, a spruce forest of 200-250 years old. At the same time, the firs of Belovezhskaya Pushcha reach 50 meters in height.

Railway station.

The ceremonial opening of the station took place in May 1886 in the presence of Tsar Alexander III himself and his heir, Nikołaj. Initially, the station resembled a medieval castle with turrets and was considered one of the most beautiful in Russia at that time, but later wars and reconstruction changed it very much. The modern station is a collection of buildings, made in different periods, in different styles, but forming a unified whole.

Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross.

This church is one of the oldest buildings in the city, it was built in 1856. It is worth knowing that in this church there is a famous image of Our Lady of Brest from the 16th century. Contemporary concerts often take place in the church.

Architecture of functionalism

Brest prepares to celebrate the thousandth anniversary in 2019, but can not boast of monuments of old architecture. Due to the construction of the fortress in the first half of the 19th century, all the historic buildings were destroyed and the city was rebuilt in a new place. Despite this, Brest has its own pearl. On the fingers you can count the cities of the world in which the architecture of functionalism would be as widely and variously represented as in Brest. Administrative buildings, industrial plants, theaters, educational institutions, religious institutions, hospitals, houses, villas - more than two hundred architectural relics were built in the style of functionalism. On this basis, the city of Brest can rightly be called a museum of modern architecture.

"Manor of the Nemcevits"- a unique and significant object of historical and cultural heritage, the only architectural structure of this kind in the vicinity of the city of Brest. The farmstead was built in the 1770s. Many generations of Ursyn Nemtsevich lived there, including Julian Ursin Nemtsevich (1757-1841) - writer, publicist, statesman, adjutant Tadeusz Kosciuszko, one of the authors of the first Constitution in Europe (1791). It was in the walls of the manor on December 15, 1917, that a protocol was signed on a military truce between Soviet Russia and the German Empire. The building has witnessed various eras and historical events. http://nemtsevichi.by

Alley of Forged Lanterns

The alley is located on Gogol Street. Forged lamps (about 30 exhibits) appeared here in 2013. The peculiarity is that they all have meaning - part reflects the stories of the writer's works, the other part - the specifics of the activity of the company that sponsored the manufacture of the lantern. Here there are lamps in the form of a clock, a loom, a symbolic figure of a clown, an angel, a treble clef.
